Washington State: History

Washington Rural Heritage is a community memory project headquartered at the Washington State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State. The project brings together unique local history materials from libraries, museums, and private collections of citizens in Washington State.

Primarily Washington is the Washington State Library, Washington State Archives, and Legacy Washington's way of bridging the gap between the primary sources in our collections and the classroom.

Japanese Americans on Bainbridge Island were the first to be relocated following Executive Order 9066.
